Dear Readers,

We are entering a very special week for me. You will understand why, in a few days. In the meantime, the upcoming event is affecting my mood. Yesterday, we talked about « Introspection », today the topic is « aspirations ». I once had as ambition to become an investigation journalist. Discovering all the frauds of the system and letting the public know about them, this was my purpose. Then, I remembered that in Africa and especially in my country Cameroon, this could be a very risky job. Two choices for you in that profession: stand to be a possible martyr or be rich and corrupted.

I did not have the guts for the first choice and I could not accept the failure which the second option meant. I therefore changed my mind at around 15 yo and as a farewell I wrote the below poem.

My aspiration changed but my true heart remains one of the journalist that I meant to be: inquisitive, passionate and authentic. So whatever your aspiration, there is always a way to stay true to it. Never give up! Good Read!

Pauvres malheureux

Leurs droits sont bafoués

Leurs désirs ignorés

De se sentir respectés

Ils sont toujours désireux.

Où est passée la liberté d’expression?

Dans un coin de tiroir

Nul ne voit

Mais les journalistes toujours

Souffrent

Empoisonnés

Torturés

Assassinés

Ces diables d’hommes

Souffriront toujours

Pour la réussite de leur métier. /-

La liberté d’expression

Dont la liberté de presse dépend

Est l’un des droits de l’homme les plus

Fondamentaux. Malheureusement

Il est chaque jour bafoué. Qu’il

Soit préservé et la Terre évitera

De nombreux malheureux. Prions

Dieu pour qu’il soit le garant de cette

Liberté. /-
